Attorney Dennis DiMartino of Youngstown; repeater, liar, ethically inept

Youngstown attorney Dennis DiMartino is a scofflaw, liar and ethically impoverished and those are his good points.

Unfortunately, Dennis DiMartino was licensed to practice law in Ohio in 1987. During that time he visited the “Attorney Misfit Apple Tree” twice.

First bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree
In December 1994, DiMartino was suspended from the practice of law for six months because he failed to timely respond to a client’s inquiries about her case, to provide the client with a settlement statement, and to promptly pay the client her portio

n of the settlement proceeds. As could be expected, the enablers on the Ohio Supreme Court stayed the six month suspension because DiMartino promised he’d be a good boy.

Second bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree
As could be expected, DiMartino decided to revisit the attorney misfit apple tree in 2006. In this case, he failed to diligently represent a client for whom he had promised to seek post-conviction relief. Again, the apologists on the Ohio Supreme Court stayed the imposition of a one-year suspension of DeMartino’s law license because he again promised to be a good boy.

Third bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree
Well, here are again folks with attorney Dennis DiMartino proving he had no intention of not engaging in any further misconduct. Should we have expected less from this buffoon?

In August 2001, DiMartino married his longtime girlfriend. In early 2005, Mrs. DiMartino threw the louse out of the marital home. Subsequently, dissolution of the marriage was sought in the Portage County Common Pleas Court (located in the greater Akron area) in 2005; however, when Mrs. DiMartino did not appear at a hearing in Jan. 2006, the judge dismissed the dissolution proceeding.

At the time it appears that DiMartino was having a fling with some gal in North Carolina. Even though he was

at the time, DiMartino then went about and got married in North Carolina. Being married to two women at the same time (aka, bigamy) is a felony in North Carolina.

In order to dupe the North Carolina authorities, DiMartino falsely stated on marriage license application that he “had never been married before.” To be fair to DiMartino, he attorney misconduct tree, the losers at the Ohio Supreme Court suspended DiMartino for six months; however, because they reinstated the prior one-year stayed suspension, they merely allowed him to serve the six months concurrently.

Conclusion

Three (3) bites at the misconduct tree are clearly insufficient in the eyes of the enablers on the Ohio Supreme Court to disbar an attorney. This further proves that attorneys and judges are held to a “lower standard of conduct” then we are. I suspect it won’t be long before attorney Dennis DiMartino revisits the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree.

DiMartino now practices law at 6004 Market Street in Youngstown. He has the chutzpah to advertise that he practices in the areas of:
  • Criminal defense law – since he’s a criminal seems apropos, right?
  • Family law – is this a joke? He’s an admitted bigamist!
Well I suppose it wouldn’t have been fair if the Ohio Supreme Court disbarred DiMartino because if they had, they certainly would have deprived him of an opportunity to earn a dishonest living as an attorney, right?
