Attorney Samuel Marks of Des Moines; serial offender

 

The state of Iowa presented Samuel Zachary Marks with a law license in 2000 after he graduated from Drake University Law School.

 

The Iowa Supreme Court Attorney Disciplinary Board found Sammy guilty of the following misconduct.

 

Sammy’s 1st bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree – 2007

  • Neglected client’s bankruptcy action
  • Failed to refund unearned fee to client re: bankruptcy case
  • Failed to cooperate with ethics investigators (Up yours, said Sammy!)
  • Failed to act with due diligence (slacker)
  • Failed to provide competent representation (moron)

As a consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Iowa Supreme Court punished Sammy by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.

 

Sammy’s 2nd bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree – 2009

  • Engaged in multiple incidents of client neglect
  • Neglected two client probate matters
  • Failed to cooperate with ethics investigators (Up yours, said Sammy!)

As a consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Iowa Supreme Court punished Sammy by gifting him with a complimentary 30-day suspension of his law license.

 

Sammy’s 3rd bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree – 2012

  • Engaged in a conflict of interest
  • Failed to obtain client’s permission to represent client’s wife
  • Engaged in conduct prejudicial to the administration of justice

As a consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Iowa Supreme Court punished Sammy by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.

 

Sammy’s 4th bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree – 2013

  • Failed to act with due diligence (slacker)
  • Engaged in conduct prejudicial to the administration of justice
  • Failed to cooperate with ethics investigators (Up Yours, said Sammy!)
  • Failed to file necessary probate reports

As a consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Iowa Supreme Court punished Sammy by gifting him with a complimentary 3-month suspension of his law license.

 

As we speak (ca. July 2015), Sammy practices with the Marks Law Firm at 4225 University Avenue in Des Moines, Iowa.
