Judge Catherine Ramsey of Las Vegas; lifetime porker, loser

The state of Nevada presented Catherine K. Ramsey with a law license in 2002 after she graduated from the University of Nevada Law School.

Since receiving her law license in 2002, Cathy has had her significant snout firmly implanted in the public trough (2002-2015). Apparently, no self-respecting law firm in the greater Las Vegas area was about to hire her.

In March 2015, a group of concerned Las Vegas citizens put forth a campaign to have Judge Ramsey removed from office via a recall election.

The recall committee said it gathered 2,717 signatures, more than the required 1,984. The Nevada secretary of state certified last week that number is sufficient to trigger a recall, though the city clerk still has to verify the signatures are valid. (Eric Hartley, Las Vegas Review-Journal)

As one would expect, Judge Ramsey denies any wrongdoing. In fact, she has filed a lawsuit to stop the ongoing recall effort by claiming that she is not a “public officer” and therefore she cannot be subjected to a recall.

A decision on Ramsey’s lawsuit should be forthcoming with the next 30 to 90 days.

As we speak (ca. June 2015), Ramsey continues to sit as a judge on the North Las Vegas Municipal court.
