Rep. Jason Chaffetz (UT): Today’s “Moron” Award Winner

Congratulations to….

Rep. Jason Chaffetz (UT)

Today’s “Moron” Award Winner

In November 2008, Jason succeeded in duping the voters in the greater Provo area into electing him as a member of the U.S. House of Representatives. In January 2015, Speaker of the House John “The Bone” Boehner further proved he was a moron appointing Jason as Chairman of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform.

In 2014, the DC voters approved the Reproductive Health Non-Discrimination Amendment Act of 2014 (RHNDA) which “expands discrimination on the basis of sex to include discrimination based upon the reproductive health decisions of an employee, their spouse, or their dependent.”

In layman’s terms, RHNDA would prohibit DC employers from retaliating against their employees for making health decisions that the employer man not personally agree with. It would prevent religious employers from firing female employees who used contraceptives of became pregnant out of wedlock.

Shortly after the DC vote, bigoted right-wing groups, such as the Nat’l Organization for Marriage, the Un-Family Research Council and Unconcerned Women for America sent letters to members of Congress asserting that the new law would prevent faith-based and/or pro-life groups from “making employment decisions consistent with their sincerely held religious beliefs or their moral and ethical views about the sanctity of human life.” (Tara Culp-Ressler)

In truth, these bigoted groups are only concerned that that limits are being placed on their overt discrimination that clearly has nothing to do with “religious freedom.

Bowing to the pressure of the bigots aforementioned, Jason scheduled a vote in April 2015 on a resolution in the House that would disapprove of the RHNDA law passed by DC voters.

Seemingly Jason believes that he has a right to impose his so-called values on the good folks of DC despite the fact that only 94,600 people in Utah voted for him in November 2014. Put simply, he represents those folks and not the residents and voters of DC.

I suggest that Jason heed the words of my late father when it comes to a woman’s right to choose, which was: “If I didn’t impregnate the woman, its none of my damn business.”

Congrats Jason; keep up the good work! We should let everyone know of your amazing record as one of Americas Least Appreciated “Morons”; you are far too humble.
