Attorney Thomas Cox III of Dallas; ethical misfit

The state of Texas presented Thomas Robert Cox III with a law license in 1991 after he graduated from Northwestern University Law School.

The District Grievance Committee found Tommy guilty of the following misconduct

In one matter, Tommy represented a client in a criminal matter. Subsequently, the client entered an open plea bargain, and he was sentenced to 10 years in prison.

The sentencing judge instructed Tommy to cause the client to be returned to Dallas within 180 days for consideration of shock probation; however, he failed to have a bench warrant issued for the client.

As a result of Tommy’s failure to issue the bench warrant, the trial court was presented from considering shock probation for Tommy’s client (victim),

As a consequence of his misconduct, the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Texas Supreme Court punished Tommy by gifting him with a complimentary stayed 2-year suspension of his law license.

In truth, the comedians sitting on the Texas Supreme Court didn’t mete out any meaningful punishment to Tommy.

As we speak (ca. May 2015), Tommy practices in the Dallas, Texas area.
