Attorney Stephen Barnes of Tampa; ethical dwarf

The state of Florida presented Stephen Ashley Barnes with a law license in 1994 after he graduated from Stetson University Law School.

The Florida Bar Association found Stevie guilty of the following misconduct.

In one matter, Stevie represented a client in a personal injury matter who subsequently passed away while the lawsuit was pending.

Stevie failed to advise opposing counsel that his client was dead. He then participated in settlement and/or arbitration in an effort to settle a dead client’s case that also included damages for pain and suffering.

When opposing counsel advised the trial court of Stevie’s conduct involving his dead client, the court ordered the case dismissed.

As a consequence of his misconduct, the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Florida Supreme Court punished Stevie by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.

As we speak (ca. April 2015) Stevie practices with the Barnes Trial Group at 505 South Magnolia Avenue in Tampa, Florida.
